Flutter app development

Flutter app development. One codebase, both stores.

Cross-platform apps for iOS and Android from a single Dart codebase. It is the stack behind GMS, our own hotel product.

Choosing Flutter

A good fit when

  • You need iOS and Android together, and the screens are the same on both.
  • The interface is custom, and you want it to look identical on every device.
  • One team should own the app, so features reach both stores at once.

Think again when

  • The app is built around a platform feature that is new or niche. Native code reaches it first. See native iOS
  • Public pages must rank in search. Flutter’s web output is weak for indexable content. See Next.js

01 / What we build

What we build with Flutter.

01

Guest and customer apps

Booking, check-in, payments and account journeys with one design across iOS and Android.

02

Staff and operations apps

Task lists, scanning and dashboards on phones and tablets, sharing code with the customer app.

03

First releases

A focused first version on both stores, without paying for two native teams.

04

Flutter takeovers

Upgrades, state management clean-up and store compliance for an app another team started.

02 / How it connects

What it connects to, and what to plan for.

Typical integrations

  • REST APIs
  • Firebase
  • Node.js back ends
  • Push notifications
  • Payment gateways
  • Native SDKs through platform channels

Often scoped alongside

Plan for these

  1. Native bridges

A device SDK with no Flutter plugin needs a platform channel written in Kotlin or Swift. We identify these before quoting.

  2. Two store reviews

One codebase still means two submissions, two sets of store rules and two release dates to line up.

  3. Framework upgrades

Flutter moves quickly. Plan a small upgrade every few months instead of one painful jump.

03 / Proof

Flutter work you can check.

A little clarity

Flutter questions, answered plainly.

How does a Flutter project with NSDBytes run, from idea to launch?

We agree the first release, design one interface for both platforms, and build in Flutter with test builds for iOS and Android as we go. Launch means two store submissions, timed to land together. Handover includes the code and both store accounts, and bugs are fixed free for 30 days.

When is Flutter the right choice, and when is it not?

Flutter is our default when an app needs iOS and Android with the same screens, and it is what we chose for GMS. We go native when the app is built around a platform feature, and to the web when an install is not justified.

Who owns the code when NSDBytes builds with Flutter?

You own the code, designs and documentation made for you once the final invoice is paid. Both store listings sit in your own Apple and Google accounts. Flutter and its packages are open source, and we can list the licence of each package your app depends on.

How should an early-stage Flutter project be scoped and priced?

Start with a first release that covers one or two core journeys on both platforms; first releases start from $5,000. After launch, real usage decides what comes next. If the scope will keep moving, a dedicated developer from $4,000 a month is usually the better arrangement.

How does a product built with Flutter grow from a first release to heavy use?

By keeping state and business logic separate from the widgets, so the app can grow without a rewrite, and by designing the API to scale on its own. GMS, our own Flutter product, runs across nine hotel properties this way. Nothing guarantees scale in advance, so we measure as usage grows.
